Rules for Rowers

A successful team requires discipline and cooperation on the part of all rowers, coaches and parents. Adherence to the following disciplinary rules will ensure that MLRC remains well respected in the local community as well as the larger rowing community. Please refer to the MLRC Safety Manual for other safety related rules.

GENERAL
1. Respect for people: Coaches, teammates, volunteers, chaperones, and regatta personnel are expected to be treated in a courteous and respectful manner at all times.

2. Respect for property: Rowers will respect all property and equipment. Rowers will not damage, alter, or remove any property that is not their own.

3. Personal Decorum: Rowers should observe the same decorum with regard to public actions and activities that they observe at school.

FINANCES
1. Rowers must be current in tuition.

2. Rowers must actively participate in MLRC approved fundraising activities on behalf of MLRC.

REGATTAS
1. Regatta Travel
a) All rowers must arrive at the designated time and report to the designated location. Rowers must stay at the regatta until dismissed by the coach. If a Rower becomes ill during a regatta they may ride home with their parent/guardian after notifying their coach of their illness.

b) When traveling on buses, Rowers must arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time in order to load the buses with personal and team items and take roll. Buses will adhere strictly to the scheduled departure time. When coaches are not present, chaperone regatta leaders are in charge on the bus and at the hotel. Full participation of all Rowers is expected with the loading and unloading of the buses. During bus trip meal stops, Rowers will only be allowed to go to the designated eating location. All other establishments in the area are off limits. Time and place to meet will be specified for each trip in advance.

2. Hotels
a) The head coach will set curfew. Under no circumstances will a Rower be allowed to leave their room after curfew. In the case of an emergency contact a chaperone.

b) Rowers, unless a chaperone is present, may only allow persons of their same sex into their room for visits at anytime. After curfew only those team members registered to a room will be allowed in that room.

c) Rooms must be clean for the morning inspection.

3. Regatta site:
a) All Rowers will participate with site set-up/tear down and the rigging and de-rigging of the boats.

b) Rowers may not leave the regatta site without the permission of their coach.

c) Tops of the unisuits must be worn up while on the water during regattas.

d) Rowers and coxswains will wear appropriate MLRC team uniforms during regattas both on and off the water.

PRACTICES
1. Launches:
a) Only rowers having a boating license will be allowed to operate the launches.

b) Launches need to be driven slowly, safely, carefully and quietly.

Violation of the above team rules could result in disciplinary actions.
